Amphi Pour Tous - The physics model: epidemic and energy

November 22, 2022 6:00 PM - november 22, 2022 7:00 PM

The lecture "Le modèle en physique : épidémie et énergie", presented by Laurent GALLOT, CNRS research fellow at the Laboratoire d'Annecy de Physique Théorique (LAPTH), UFR Sciences et Montagne, will take place on Tuesday November 22, 2022 at 6pm at the Présidence de l'université Savoie Mont Blanc, 27 rue Marcoz, 73000 Chambéry.

It will also be held :

  • Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. in Annecy
  • Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. in Archamps

Conferences will take place subject to health conditions linked to the Coronavirus epidemic (COVID-19) and in compliance with the safety instructions in force at the venue hosting the event.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The Covid 19 pandemic demonstrated the importance of epidemiological models, simplified mathematical representations of real phenomena. How is a scientific model developed? How much can it be trusted? These questions are illustrated by the simplest of epidemiological models, the SIR (Sain Infecté Remis) model, used to think rationally about the pandemic episode and thwart misinformation.Incidentally, the same model also describes the extraction of a non-renewable resource and provides insights into our society's energy future.
