Amphis Pour Tous - The physics model: epidemic and energy

December 13, 2022 18:30 - december 13, 2022 6:30 PM

The lecture "Le modèle en physique : épidémie et énergie", presented by Laurent GALLOT, CNRS research fellow at the Laboratoire d'Annecy de Physique Théorique (LAPTH), UFR Sciences et Montagne, will take place on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at 6 p.m. at ARCHPARC, Bât. Mont-Blanc 1, 61 rue Antoine Rédier, 74160 Archamps.

It will also be held :

  • Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. in Annecy
  • Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 6 p.m. in Chambéry

Conferences will take place subject to health conditions linked to the Coronovirus epidemic (COVID-19) and in compliance with the safety instructions in force at the venue hosting the event.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The Covid 19 pandemic demonstrated the importance of epidemiological models, simplified mathematical representations of real phenomena. How is a scientific model developed? How much can it be trusted? These questions are illustrated by the simplest of epidemiological models, the SIR (Sain Infecté Remis) model, used to think rationally about the pandemic episode and thwart misinformation. Incidentally, the same model also describes the extraction of a non-renewable resource, providing insights into our society's energy future.
