The conference "The model in physics: epidemic and energy", presented by Laurent GALLOT, CNRS researcher at the Annecy Laboratory of Theoretical Physics (LAPTH), UFR Sciences et Montagne, will take place on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 6:30 pm at the Turbine (Entrance by the cinema La Turbine), rue de l'arlequin Cran-Gevrier, 74960 Annecy
It will also be held :
- Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 6pm in Chambéry
- Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at 6:30 pm in Archamps
The conferences will be held subject to the health conditions linked to the Coronovirus (COVID-19) epidemic and in compliance with the safety regulations in force at the event venue.
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
The Covid 19 pandemic has shown the importance of epidemiological models, simplified mathematical representations of the real phenomenon. How is a scientific model developed? How much can we trust it? These questions are illustrated by the simplest of epidemiological models, the SIR (Sain Infecté Remis) model, used to think rationally about the pandemic episode and to thwart false information. Incidentally, the same model also describes the extraction of a non-renewable resource and gives perspectives on the energy future of our society.
