About the Conference

By its very essence, animal life produces waste; organic waste is intrinsically linked to life. From the dawn of the urbanization process, along with the supply of water, food and energy, waste disposal has been one of the fundamental problems to be managed by a denser humanity. The use of dejecta as an organic amendment is confused with the emergence of agriculture. The selective collection of materials for recycling only increases proportionally the importance of organic waste in what remains. Methanisation is developing and contributes to energy self-sufficiency. On a local or individual scale, composting not only provides an organic amendment, but also creates social ties. If selective collection of organic waste develops, what will be left to be incinerated? A historical, geographical and geopolitical overview of the treatment of our organic waste!
