La conférence « ULTIMA PATAGONIA : grottes & gouffres des îles aux glaciers de marbre », présentée par Stéphane Jaillet, ingénieur de recherche CNRS au Laboratoire Environnements, Dynamiques et Territoires de la Montagne (EDYTEM), UFR Sciences et Montagne, aura lieu le mardi 8 octobre 2019 à 18h à la Présidence de l’USMB à Chambéry.
Elle se tiendra également le jeudi 10 octobre 2019 à 18h à Annecy (La Turbine, Place Chorus, 74960 Cran Gevrier).
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
At 50° south latitude, the Patagonian karst, the southernmost on the planet, offers spectacular scenery and exceptional underground caves. For over 20 years, a series of expeditions in extreme climatic conditions has uncovered incredible morphologies, explored Chile's largest chasms and discovered the caves
of the Kawésqar Indians, the "nomads of the sea". As a result of this research, the island of Madre de Dios, the largest of these marble-glaciated islands, is now a candidate for Unesco World Heritage listing.
