Café scientifique - What can we do every day to save the planet?

On Thursday, December 12, 2019, the Science-Actions association invites you to discuss the brain. The Café Scientifique "Quelles gestes quotidiens pour sauver la planète?" will be held at the MJC (espace Bartem) at 311 Faubourg Montmélian in Chambéry, starting at 8pm.

What can you do every day to save the planet?

The wikihow tutorial site offers a manual for 'saving the planet' in just 17 steps! Starting with water and energy savings in everyday gestures, and purchasing choices as a consumer, it opens up to participation in collective actions at local level or in larger-scale organizations. But how do we know which individual actions are most likely to improve our common lot in the face of environmental challenges? And do everyday gestures make sense if we work for companies that are "locked into short-term profitability" and vote for elected representatives "who only think about the next election"? We invite you to come and discuss the actions that have the greatest impact on meeting today's environmental challenges, and how individual and collective actions are intertwined or at odds with each other. With orders of magnitude, explanations of what's at stake and various testimonials, we'll gain a better understanding of the actions we can take today to leave our children a more habitable planet tomorrow.
