Campus en Musique - "Air de Fêtes" with the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie

December 21, 2017 12:00 am - December 21, 2017 1:00 PM

TheOrchestre des Pays de Savoie returns toUniversité Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB) for a new season of "Campus en Musique". On Thursday December 21, the musicians will perform the concert "Air de fêtes" on the Annecy campus, from 12 noon to 1pm, at the Annecy IUT.

ABOUT THE CONCERT

The Orchestre des Pays de Savoie is fortunate to play a repertoire of composers who have drawn on traditions (Grieg), folklore (Ligeti, Bartók) and childhood themes (Britten) to imagine festive pieces and the music of tomorrow. Music, of course, is a vital ingredient in the festivities, with familiar tunes from theHolberg Suite and Romanian Folk Dances. Britten's Simple Symphony is a compendium of unabashedly mischievous moods, with its four miniatures expressing sentimentality, charm or high spirits. The same energy is to be found in Bartók and Ligeti, one a young student, the other a phonograph adventurer, who drew inspiration from the klezmorim perfumes extracted from the ballroom music of their elders. And to celebrate the end of the year in the best possible way, the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie is offering you a surprise work, and the chance to sing along on the evening of the concert to a creation composed especially for the audience!

CAMPUS EN MUSIQUE WITH THE ORCHESTRE DES PAYS DE SAVOIE

Campus en Musique was launched 25 years ago. The result of a partnership between the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie and the USMB, Campus en Musique is an initiative designed to raise awareness of classical music among USMB students and staff: four one-hour concerts with commentary are scheduled during lunchtime at the heart of the three campuses.
