The Orchestre des Pays de Savoiereturns to the University of Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB) for a new season of "Campus en Musique." On Thursday, December 21, the musicians will perform the "Air de fêtes" concerton the Annecy campus, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the IUT in Annecy.
ABOUT THE CONCERT
The Orchestre des Pays de Savoie is fortunate to perform a repertoire of composers who have drawn on traditions (Grieg), folklore (Ligeti, Bartók), and childhood themes (Britten) to create festive pieces and the music of tomorrow. Music is, of course, an essential ingredient to any celebration, with the familiar tunes ofHolberg Suite andRomanian Folk Dances. No celebration is complete without emotion, andBritten's Simple Symphonyis a distillation of unabashedly playful moods, with its four miniatures expressing sentimentality, charm, or exuberance. This energy is also found in Bartók and Ligeti, one a young student, the other a phonograph adventurer, who drew inspiration from the klezmorim flavors extracted from the ballroom music of their elders. And to celebrate the end of the year in the best possible way, the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie offers a surprise work and invites the audience to sing along on the evening of the concert to a piece composed especially for them!
