about the symposium

In a world marked by the fluidity of borders and identities, the circulation of symbolic goods, encouraged by the emergence of new media, has greatly accelerated in recent decades. Among the cultural productions circulating on a planetary scale, crime fiction occupies a privileged place. Codified but lending themselves to multiple generic variations and hybridizations (thriller, SF thriller, historical thriller), these fictions are exported and imported on a massive scale via an ever-increasing number and variety of media. While this circulation is obvious in the case of Anglo-Saxon crime fiction, for which the English language is a powerful vector of circulation, it is the transnational and transmedia circulation of crime fiction in and between Romance-language countries that will be studied during this symposium.
