ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

In a world characterized by the fluidity of borders and identities, the circulation of symbolic goods—fueled by the emergence of new media—has accelerated significantly over the past few decades. Among the cultural productions circulating on a global scale, crime fiction occupies a privileged place. Codified yet lending themselves to multiple generic variations and hybridizations (thriller, sci-fi crime fiction, historical crime fiction), these works are exported and imported on a massive scale across an ever-increasing number and variety of media platforms. While this circulation is evident in the case of Anglo-Saxon crime fiction, for which the English language serves as a powerful vehicle, this conference will focus on the transnational and cross-media circulation of crime fiction within and between Romance-language countries.
