TRAMIN2018 Conference

october 15, 2018 09:00 - october 19, 2018 18:00

The Environnements, Dynamiques et Territoires de la Montagne (EDYTEM) laboratory is organizing an international, interdisciplinary symposium, entitled TRAMIN2018, on "Socio-environmental trajectories of mining territories".

The symposium will be structured around three days of exchanges to cross disciplinary views, from October 15 to 17, 2018, on the Bourget-du-Lac campus (in the amphitheater of the Pôle Montagne) and will be followed by an excursion to the Maurienne valley on October 18.

About the TRAMIN2018 conference

The TRAMIN2018 symposium aims to bring together the various communities working on mining and mining areas, often in isolation from each other. The aim is to cross disciplinary approaches to the study of past and present mining territories, from a geological, geographical, historical, sociological, legal, anthropological, economic and environmental point of view, putting into perspective the role and socio-environmental impacts of mining on territorial development, transformation and reconversion of these territories. The TRAMIN2018 symposium is above all a forum for exchange on the added value of interdisciplinarity in understanding the socio-environmental trajectories of mining territories (present and/or past), and thus being able to implement territorial development strategies adapted to the challenges of sustainable development in these territories.

Following the symposium, a special volume of publications is planned in an interdisciplinary journal such as The Extractive Industries and Society.
