TRAMIN2018 Conference

October 15, 2018, 9:00 a.m. - October 19, 2018, 6:00 p.m.

The Environments, Dynamics, and Mountain Territories Laboratory (EDYTEM) is organizing an international and interdisciplinary conference, titled TRAMIN2018, focusing on the “Socio-environmental Trajectories of Mining Territories.”

The conference will consist of three days of discussions aimed at bringing together different disciplinary perspectives, from October 15 to 17, 2018, on the Bourget-du-Lac campus (in the Mountain Center auditorium), followed by a field trip to the Maurienne Valley on October 18.

About the TRAMIN2018 Conference

The TRAMIN2018 conference aims to bring together and foster dialogue among the various communities that often work in isolation on mining and mining territories. The goal is to integrate disciplinary approaches to the study of past and present mining regions from geological, geographical, historical, sociological, legal, anthropological, economic, and environmental perspectives, while examining the role and socio-environmental impacts of mining operations on territorial development, transformation, and the reconversion of these regions. The TRAMIN2018 conference is therefore intended above all as a forum for discussion on the added value of interdisciplinarity in understanding the socio-environmental trajectories of mining territories (current and/or past), and thus to be able to implement territorial development strategies adapted to the challenges of sustainable development in these territories.

Following the conference, a special issue is planned for an interdisciplinary journal such as *The Extractive Industries and Society*.
