Juger les Khmers rouges" conference

As part of the pedagogical projects ofUniversité Savoie Mont Blanc 's Master LEA Analyse de Crises et Action Humanitaire and the collaboration between researchers from the Langages, Littératures, Sociétés, Études Transfrontalières et Internationales (LLSETI) department and the Centre de Recherche en Droit Antoine Favre on the languages and cultures of law, a conference on "Juger les Khmers rouges" (Judging the Khmer Rouge) will take place on Tuesday December 10.

It will take place from 6pm to 7:30pm in the 23,000 amphitheater on the Jacob-Bellecombette campus. It will be moderated by Judge Marcel Lemonde, former international judge in Cambodia and honorary president of chamber at the Paris Court of Appeal.

Appointed investigating judge for the international Khmer Rouge trial, Marcel Lemonde was tasked in 2006 with establishing the responsibility of the main living leaders of the infamous "Democratic Kampuchea". This is the first time in history (and probably the only time) that a trial of leaders of a communist regime has been undertaken.
