As part of the educational projects of the Master's degree in Crisis Analysis and Humanitarian Action at the University of Savoie Mont Blanc and the collaboration between researchers from Langages, Literature, Societies, Cross-Border and International Studies (LLSETI) and the Antoine Favre Law Research Center on languages and cultures of law, a conference on "Judging the Khmer Rouge" will take place on Tuesday, December 10.
It will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in Amphitheater 23,000 on the Jacob-Bellecombette campus. It will be led by Judge Marcel Lemonde, former international judge in Cambodia and honorary chamber president at the Paris Court of Appeal.
Appointed as investigating judge for the international trial of the Khmer Rouge, Marcel Lemonde was tasked in 2006 with establishing the responsibility of the main leaders still alive from the infamous "Democratic Kampuchea." This was the first time in history (and undoubtedly the only time) that the leaders of a communist regime had been put on trial.
