Conference on management in the public sector

March 8, 2024 3:00 PM

On Friday, March 8, 2024, at 3pm, Valérie Bouvier, Director General of Services at the Centre de Gestion de la Haute-Savoie, will host a conference on the theme of "Management in the public sector - History, evolution and what it says about our society".

This type of management is evolving strongly in the context of profound transformations: ecological, demographic, digital, economic, political, and so on. This conference will shed light on tried-and-tested managerial practices adapted to the new aspirations of public servants.

Summary

It's not an instruction manual with ready-made recipes, but an inspiring reflection based on the work and history of management. Management is a matter of circumstance, of culture, and a witness to the times in which we live and the consequences of our way of life. To find one's way through the complexity of human organizations, in order to understand oneself and others, it is necessary to mobilize complementary methods and disciplines. In particular, managers can draw on contributions from neuroscience, sociology, philosophy and psychology, in order to act more effectively without wanting to do everything. To achieve this, prudence and humility must govern the manager's values.
