Allergies and eczema: diseases of the 21st century?

An exaggerated immune response, allergy is a hypersensitivity of the body to substances present in the environment. Allergens can be found in the air, in food, in medicines, and so on. The resulting symptoms can be very varied: allergic rhinitis, atopic eczema, asthma, conjunctivitis, etc.

Recent decades have seen an increase in the number of people suffering from allergies. In France today, between 25% and 30% of the population suffers from allergies.

Why is this disease becoming increasingly common? What are the causes and aggravating factors? What treatments are available? How can I better manage my disease on a daily basis and improve my quality of life? How can we change the way we look at allergies such as atopic eczema, and deal with the psychological after-effects of this disease?

Come and discuss this topic with speakers specializing in this field:

  • Arnaud Carré, teacher-researcher in psychology, Laboratoire Inter-universitaire de Psychologie (LIP/PC2S, USMB-UGA)
  • Dr. Magali Bourrel-Bouttaz, dermatologist in Chambéry and author of several books on eczema.
  • Dr. François Guiraud, ENT allergist in Chambéry, France
  • Dr. Cécile Tribouillard, pharmacist, Les Marches
