ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
Broadcast in 190 countries, the Tour de France is a highly sought-after tool for promoting tourism in mountainous regions. It serves both as a kickoff for the summer season and as a potential annual peak in visitor numbers.
There are numerous initiatives aimed at capitalizing on the event’s global reach: cycling tours and mass-participation sporting events have become annual fixtures, contributing to the diversification of tourism in the valleys. These new participants place a certain amount of pressure on environments that are often vulnerable.
So, how can we balance large-scale sporting events with environmental conservation?
