Within the university, executive and decision-making authority are separate. Executive power is exercised by the President of the University. Decision-making authority is exercised by the Board of Governors (BOD). The Academic Council has essentially an advisory role.
The President is elected by an absolute majority by the members of the Board for a four-year term, renewable once. He/she shall be the head of the institution for which he/she is authorising officer for revenue and expenditure. He chairs the two university councils and has authority over all the staff of the institution. He appoints the juries, is responsible for the maintenance of law and order and represents the university with regard to third parties and in court.
THE PRESIDENTIAL TEAM
The presidential team is made up of the vice-presidents (elected on the proposal of the president), the chargés de mission, the director general of services and the accounting officer.
It is composed of the President, the Vice-President of the Board of Directors and First Vice-President, the Vice-President of the Board of Directors, the Vice-President academics, the Vice-President for Research and the seven Directors of the UFRs, Schools and Institutes.
It assists the President in the day-to-day management of the institution. It meets once a week.
