Université Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB) is an institution that is open to its immediate environment, and a stakeholder in local and regional dynamics.
It enjoys the support of the major public players in its area of jurisdiction, who have shown their confidence in it: the French government, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, the Savoie and Haute-Savoie départements, and theAnnecy and Chambéry conurbations. It maintains a close, constructive relationship with its local communities, with the CROUS for student life and the dissemination of knowledge, and with many other local players.
The university's long-standing links with the region's economic players are reflected in the presence of several very close partners:
- The Club des entreprises de l'USMB, an association founded in 1991, works with the university to promote the professionalization of students and the professional integration of graduates;
- The USMB Foundation, which has been supporting research and innovation since 2016, through research chairs and exploratory projects, linked to the territory's challenges;
- CFA partners Formasup Savoie Mont Blanc, Tétras and ITII des deux Savoie.
The USMB has 11 joint research units among its 18 laboratories, and excellent relations with major research organizations(CNRS, INRAe, CEA, CERN). It is involved in several competitive clusters. It is a founding member of the Institut national de l'énergie solaire(INES) and a partner of the Institut pour la transition énergétique (ITE) INES-2S.
In terms of international relations, the USMB is a member of the Réseau d'échanges et de liaison entre institutions d'enseignement supérieur francophones (RELIEF), soon to celebrate its 10th anniversary. It has targeted, active partnerships with 400 universities in 60 countries for the mobility of students and staff.
Finally, the USMB is a founding member of the European UNITA alliance, which has 10 partners in 5 countries (Portugal, Spain, France, Italy and Romania) and two associate partners in Switzerland and Ukraine. All these institutions are located in mountainous and border areas. All use a Romance language. These common characteristics give rise to shared challenges. This makes it all the easier to define the alliance's objectives and work together.
