THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Board of Directors is the university's main decision-making body.
It determines university policy, notably by deliberating on the content of the establishment contract. It votes on the annual budget and approves the accounts, oversees job allocations, and distributes equipment and operating credits. It authorizes the Chairman to institute legal proceedings. It approves agreements and conventions. It approves the President's annual activity report and the social report. It approves decisions of the Academic Board with financial implications. Finally, it votes on the statutes of the university and its various components (UFRs, institutes, schools, shared services, etc.) and decides on issues relating to campus development (building construction, space planning).
Theuniversité Savoie Mont Blanc Board of Directors is currently made up of 28 elected members (elected on March 15, 2016), including 8 professors and equivalent staff (college A), 8 other teachers and equivalent staff (college B), 6 administrative staff (college C), 6 students (college D - users). It is completed by 8 outside personalities appointed by the local authorities and by the elected members of the Board. The university president is also an ex-officio member. In principle, it meets one Tuesday a month.
At academics restreinte, the Board of Directors examines individual questions relating to teacher-researchers and secondary school teachers. It issues an opinion on the assignment of candidates to teaching-research posts.

THE ACADEMIC BOARD
The full Academic Council comprises the members of the Research Commission and the Commission for academics and University Life. It is currently made up of 60 elected members and 8 outside personalities.
At academics plenary session, the Academic Council is consulted on, or may issue recommendations concerning, policy guidelines for academics, research, the dissemination of scientific, technical and industrial culture, and scientific and technical documentation, the qualifications to be given to vacant or requested teaching/research positions, accreditation applications, and the establishment contract.
It is also consulted on all measures aimed at guaranteeing students' academic, trade union and political freedoms.
Academic Council decisions with financial implications are subject to approval by the Board of Directors.
Following a call for candidates from all university users, the full Academic Council elects the student vice-president. If the student vice-president is not an elected member of the Academic Board, he or she may nevertheless attend the Board in an advisory capacity.
The Academic Council, sitting at academics , restricted to teacher-researchers, is the body responsible for examining individual issues relating to the recruitment, assignment and career of teacher-researchers, the integration of civil servants from other bodies into the teacher-researchers corps, and the recruitment or renewal of temporary teaching and research assistants (ATER).

COMPONENT DIRECTORS' COUNCIL
The component directors' council is made up of the directors of the university's academics and research units, schools and institutes, and representatives of the directors ofResearch unit. It is chaired by the university president or, in his or her absence or incapacity or at his or her request, by the vice-president of the board of directors.
It is consulted on all matters relating to the establishment's project; it examines all questions submitted to it by the President, in particular those concerning the academics and research units, schools and institutes. It may issue recommendations and opinions. These are forwarded to the Academic Council and the Board of Directors by the President.
In addition, the president or vice-president in charge of human resources conducts a management dialogue with the components, in order to define their objectives and resources.

THE ACADEMIC COUNCIL'S RESEARCH COMMISSION
It distributes the resources earmarked for research as allocated by the Board of Directors and subject to the strategic framework for its distribution, as defined by the Board of Directors. It sets the operating rules for Research units and is consulted on agreements with research organizations. It adopts measures to enable teachers to develop activities to disseminate scientific, technical and industrial culture.
The Research Commission is currently made up of 32 elected members (elected on March 15, 2016): 12 professors and similar staff (college A), 3 research supervisors (college B), 8 PhD staff (college C), 1 non-PhD teacher (college D), 3 engineers and technicians (college E), 1 "other staff" (college F) 3 students (including 2 elected on March 15, 2016 college G - users -), and 4 external personalities.
In principle, it meets one Thursday a month.
The Academic Council's Research Commission is consulted on research policy and scientific and technical documentation, as well as on the allocation of research funding.
