As part of the 11th Italian Film Fortnight, a conference on the theme of the Italian Risorgimento and the "Roman question" is being organized at the Maison des Associations in Chambéry. The event will be hosted by Laura Fournier-Finocchiaro, Professor of Italian Studies at Grenoble Alpes University, and has been organized in collaboration with Savoie Mont-Blanc University.
About the conference :
The unification of Italy in the 19th century raised the issue of the annexation of the Papal States and Rome to the Kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia. This "Roman question", which involved European public opinion, gave rise to persistent tensions between the Holy See and the Kingdom of Italy after the capture of Rome on September 20, 1870.
The event is being held in conjunction with the film " Rapito ", which will be screened at 8:45pm on November 22 at L'Astrée cinema.
