About the conferences

  • Saturday, June 15 at 2:00 p.m.: “Jean-Jacques Rousseau, the Walker and the Writer” by Michael Kohlhauer, professor emeritus of French and comparative literature at the University of Savoie Mont Blanc
About the lecture: A tireless and inspired walker, the author of *Rêveries* embodies the figure—unprecedented in the Age of Enlightenment—of the writer-walker, a stroller if not a traveler.
  • Sunday, June 16 at 2:00 p.m.: “On Foot Along the Trails” by David le Breton, anthropologist and professor at the University of Strasbourg
About the lecture: In our societies, hiking has become an increasingly popular pastime around the world. The hiker takes back control of their life with the freedom of a day that belongs to them, open to the calls of the trail, free from urgent matters or appointments, with nothing but the pleasure of putting one foot in front of the other.
