The next European Permafrost Conference (EUCOP5) will be held from June 23 to July 1, 2018, in Chamonix (Haute-Savoie).
The event, organized by the Environments, Dynamics, and Mountain Territories Laboratory (EDYTEM), will bring together the global scientific community in the prestigious setting of the Majestic Hotel (between 400 and 500 people are expected to attend, with representatives from some 30 countries).
This is the fifth time since 2005 that the European community has gathered in this way, and the first time that France has organized and hosted the event.
This conference will provide an opportunity to take stock of the issues and challenges surrounding permafrost-related risks, particularly in mountainous regions.
On the agenda
Scientists, practitioners, policymakers, and the general public will come together for three days of scientific sessions, roundtable discussions, poster presentations, and a variety of related events.
Local excursions (Mont Blanc massif) and regional excursions (Valais, Aosta, Écrins) will also be offered.
