ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
With the development of the internet, romantic encounters have shifted in an unprecedented way from the real world to the digital world. Today, the online dating market is huge: 1 in 3 French people are registered on a dating site in 2020! While there are many different platforms and apps, they all have one thing in common: you have to create a profile to access them. Users have to design a kind of "showcase" for themselves, designed to encourage connections with others. What strategies are used to present oneself? What should be shared or kept private? Which photos should be chosen? Is a profile simply a presentation or already a representation of oneself? By analyzing several studies in information and communication sciences and sociology, we will understand the challenges and logic of constructing a digital identity in the context of seduction.
