ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
Despite significant weight loss and a gaunt physique, people with anorexia nervosa generally feel fatter than they actually are. More surprisingly, they move as if this were truly the case. Despite having opposite weight issues, recent studies draw a parallel between obesity and anorexia nervosa. Indeed,
patients with obesity also experience major weight fluctuations, associated with an overestimation of body size, as well as atypical movements. What are the common dysfunctions that could contribute to the overestimation of body size in these two conditions? This will lead us to discuss our brain’s “blindness” to major bodily changes.
