The lecture “The Torrents of Savoie: Indicators of Climate Change,” presented by Laurent Astrade, a faculty member and researcher, and Anaïs Fichot, a doctoral student at the Laboratory of Mountain Environments, Dynamics, and Territories (EDYTEM) – Faculty of Sciences and Mountain Studies (SceM), will take place on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the “l’Ourse Bleue” Municipal Media Library, 70 chemin de la Ferme Saillet, 74250 Fillinges.
About the conference
Torrents, which channel the erosion flowing down from the high mountains, and their cones, which serve as living spaces for mountain communities, are powerful reminders of the interactions between mountain dynamics, human societies, and climate change.
Drawing on a geo-historical analysis of Alpine regions, this presentation will highlight the challenges posed by climate change and the responses adopted by managers in these contexts.
