The lecture "Our relationships with animals: what does psychology reveal?" presented by Kévin Vezirian, lecturer and researcher at the Inter-University Psychology Laboratory (LIP/PC2S) – UFR Letters, Languages, and Humanities (LLSH), will take place on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at La Clé des Sources du Lac d'Annecy, 281 Route de Thônes, 74210 Faverges-Seythenex.

About the conference

For thousands of years, they have inhabited our caves, been hunted, domesticated as companions or tools for work, glorified, or raised for agriculture. Today, our relationships with "non-human animals" are evolving at a rapid pace, raising new questions and prompting us to rethink their place in society.

Are they all endowed with intelligence, personality, and emotions? Do our pets truly understand us? Do certain great apes deserve special moral and legal status?

Beyond studying differences between animal species, psychology helps us better understand certain mechanisms. What shapes our perception of the cognitive and emotional abilities of non-human animals? What really influences our behavior toward them?
