The conference "Our relationships with animals: what does psychology tell us?", presented by Kévin Vezirian, teacher-researcher at the Laboratoire Inter-universitaire de Psychologie (LIP/PC2S) - UFR Lettres, Langues et Sciences Humaines (LLSH), will take place on Tuesday March 10, 2026 at 6pm at the Presidency of theUniversité Savoie Mont Blanc, 27 rue Marcoz, 73000 Chambéry.
About the conference
For millennia, they have populated our caves, been hunted, domesticated as companions or work tools, glorified, or bred for agriculture. Today, our relationship with "non-human animals" is evolving at lightning speed, raising unprecedented questions and prompting us to rethink their place in society.
Do they all have intelligence, personality and emotions? Do our pets really understand us? Do some great apes deserve special moral and legal status?
Beyond the study of differences between animal species, psychology contributes to a better understanding of certain mechanisms. What shapes our perception of the cognitive and emotional capacities of non-human animals? What really influences our behavior towards them?
