The conference “Climate Transition in Mountain Regions: How to Accept Risks Together,” presented by François Nicot, a professor and researcher at theInstitute of Earth Sciences (ISTerre) – Faculty of Sciences and Mountains (SceM), will take place on Wednesday, November 12, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at La Turbine Cinéma, Rue de l’Arlequin, Cran-Gevrier, 74960 Annecy.

About the conference

In mountainous regions, climate change is exacerbating natural hazards. Wide temperature fluctuations, intense and sometimes sudden rainfall, rockfalls, and mudslides threaten human settlements and are altering landscapes and ecosystems.

In the face of an increasingly uncertain environment, the issue of adaptation has become central and requires a better understanding and sharing of risk culture. How can we learn to live with these growing risks? How can we foster public awareness and collective acceptance of risk?
