ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

At the heart of the National Institute for Solar Energy, researchers at the LEPMI laboratory are working to optimize materials for harnessing renewable energy sources. For example, they are developing third-generation photovoltaic cells. These devices show great promise: their low energy cost, ease of manufacture, and high efficiency are combined with remarkable stability.

One challenge in using renewable energy sources is their variable availability. Innovative storage systems are therefore needed.

The development of redox flow batteries, which have the major advantage of not using lithium, is currently hampered by stability issues with certain components. LEPMI is exploring several avenues to develop more durable polymer membranes for these batteries.
