ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

Empathy—the ability to put oneself in another person’s shoes—is a fundamental and complex phenomenon that has been explored in many fields, such as psychology, neuroscience, education, healthcare, and well-being promotion. With its origins in the evolution of species and their adaptation to their environment, empathy has become a subject of study to better understand the regulation of emotions.

Conceptualizing these brain and psychological processes of emotional resonance and social cognition enables more effective diagnosis and treatment in many contexts. These range from autism to anxiety and depression, including Alzheimer’s disease, antisocial behaviors, and certain somatic disorders. Beyond the context of pathologies, empathy is a key driver in the fields of development, education, and health. In other words, empathy is a process that concerns us all!
