ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

France has committed to a major national strategy to protect natural areas by 2030. At a time when discussions about biodiversity loss are gaining traction and protected areas are multiplying, overlapping, and intertwining, this overview will put into perspective the political choices, conflicts between uses and practices within these areas, and social acceptance of these protection measures.

How is the environment being protected in France today? What tools are being used? What methods and processes are being employed? Are protected areas proving to be "effective," and according to what criteria?
