ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The mountains have long attracted visitors—from spa-goers to the first mountaineers, and from hikers to skiers—and have successfully showcased their many facets. While the mountains’ appeal endures, conditions vary between small and large resorts and between the summer and winter seasons. At the same time, the expectations of 21st-century tourists have evolved significantly, and it is essential to understand
the implications of these changes. The conference presents the major current trends in tourism consumption and analyzes the extent to which the mountains can meet these needs today and in the future. The focus is on the key mountain resources that remain essential to our appeal to tourists and those that deserve to be further promoted in the future.
