ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

In France, in 1975, there were three working people for every non-working person over the age of 60. Today, there are two for every one, and according to INSEE projections, there will only be one and a half for every one in 2060! Is our pay-as-you-go pension system, in which working people contribute to pay the pensions of retirees, in danger? How can we reform it? The pension system must be financially sustainable, but the choice of pension system is also a societal choice that must take into account the health of workers, the arduousness of work, and family life.

It also has consequences for the labor market for workers who are approaching retirement age. A series of measures have already been taken in France. How can we assess their effectiveness? Finally, what can we learn from the pension systems of other European countries?
