Art/Science Happy Hour – “The Augmented Body”

On Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at 7:00 p.m., the Espace Culturel La Traverse and the University of Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB) are teaming up to host an Art/Science Happy Hour centered on the theme “The Augmented Body.”

ABOUT THE EVENT

Centered around the Gambit Dance Company’s choreography “Le corps augmenté,” enjoy an evening of discovery and hands-on exploration as you experiment with the possible intersections between art (dance) and the humanities, followed by a conversation over some delicious local treats.

The Augmented Body: We’re All Hybrids! The body is under pressure to do more and more. Indeed, researchers and artists are attempting to push the body’s limits…by augmenting it!

Biosciences, multimedia, and new technologies are all tools being used to create a “super body.” This event will be an opportunity to discover and explore the possibilities offered by these new “superpowers.” A friendly and unique gathering centered on a highly topical theme, this evening promises to stimulate your taste buds, ears, and eyes.

On the program: · a performance/excerpt featuring professional dancers and a live musician, virtual reality experiences and demonstrations with the assistance of Carole Brandon, a researcher at the Langages, Literature, Societies, Transborder and International Studies (LLSETI) at the University of Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB) and instructor in the Hypermedia Area Communication Department ofthe UFR LLSH, along with students from USMB.
