Science Café: "Green chemistry: transforming waste into solutions for the future"

May 4, 2026, 7:30 p.m. - May 4, 2026, 8:30 p.m.

On May 4, 2026, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., La Turbine Sciences is organizing a meeting as part of the Brasserie des Sciences conferences at the Bistro des Tilleuls (13 Chemin de la Prairie, Annecy) on the theme of "Green chemistry: transforming waste into solutions for the future." This conference will be led by Grégory Chatel, professor and lecturer at the Environments, Dynamics, and Mountain Territories Laboratory (EDYTEM).

ABOUT THE MEETING

Often perceived as polluting, chemistry is nevertheless at the heart of innovations for a more sustainable world. Thanks to green chemistry, agricultural and industrial waste—wine residues, coffee grounds, invasive plants, and byproducts of the apple industry—are becoming valuable resources for health, cosmetics, and energy. But these challenges require a collaborative approach: chemists, biologists, economists, and industrialists are combining their expertise to transform these materials into concrete solutions. Chemists are not working alone: they are an essential link in a chain of innovation working toward a more sustainable future. Discover how science and local innovation can reinvent the way we produce and consume, building an efficient circular economy.

ABOUT THE SCIENCE BREWERY

The Brasserie des Sciences meetings allow the general public to discuss current scientific topics with researchers and experts in a friendly atmosphere. They are organized by La Turbine Sciences and its partners, and take place one Monday per month from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Bistro des Tilleuls in Annecy.
