On Monday, December 8, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. at the MJC in Chambéry, the science outreach organization Science Action is hosting a special science café in honor of Richard Taillet, titled “Dark Matter.”

In early August 2025, news broke of the passing of Richard Taillet, professor of physics at USMB and director ofthe Faculty of Science and Mountain Studies (SceM), following an illness. The members of the Science-Actions association knew and greatly appreciated Richard. He had participated in numerous science cafés and always responded positively to their invitations. Richard appreciated the format of science cafés, which brings together specialists around a specific scientific topic to answer questions from a broad and diverse audience. Richard participated in 9 of the association’s events over the past 10 years (8 cafés and 1 film screening), but he had never been asked to speak on his research topic: dark matter. To pay tribute to him as 2025 draws to a close, Sciences-Actions is therefore organizing a special café on this topic, featuring experts who knew Richard and his research well.
