On Thursday, October 12, 2017, the Science Actions association will explore common beliefs and misconceptions about health. The event will take place at Le Beaujolais restaurant in Chambéry and will begin at 8:00 p.m.
This café will be part of the 2017 Science Festival, which will take place from October 7 to 15, with the departmental theme “Beliefs and Misconceptions.”
HEALTH: WHAT TO BELIEVE, WHO TO BELIEVE?
Health: What to Believe, Who to Believe? Should we get vaccinated? Is wine good for the heart? Is half the population allergic to gluten? Should DHEA be prescribed to the elderly? Can we safely self-medicate by visiting health-related websites… Amid rumors, facts, and misconceptions, it’s not always easy to sort through health-related information… which can lead to unwarranted anxiety or poor treatment decisions. How should we respond to all these rumors, misconceptions, and misinterpretations? How is the medical community reacting and adapting?
Come join the discussion and ask questions of various experts at this coffee-and-chat event:
- Dr. Patricia Simon Marsaud, a nutritionist in Aix-les-Bains;
- Dr. Emmanuel Forestier, an infectious disease specialist at the Centre hospitalier Métropole Savoie in Chambéry;
- Franck Villard, a member ofthe Zetetic Observatory and a patient representative at the Centre hospitalier Métropole Savoie in Chambéry.
