Closing Symposium of the RCSR Project – From Civil Liability to the Socialization of Risks

June 6, 2019, 2:30 p.m. - June 7, 2019, 5:00 p.m.

On June 6 and 7, 2019, the closing conference of the Young Researchers project “From Civil Liability to the Socialization of Risks ” (RCSR), a project funded by the National Research Agency (ANR) at the Center for Public and Private Law of Obligations and Consumer Affairs at the University of Savoie Mont Blanc. The conference will take place in Amphitheater 19 000 on the Jacob-Bellecombette campus.

The project“From Civil Liability to the Socialization of Risk”offers a fresh perspective on the upheavals and crises in civil liability, viewing it as a phenomenon of risk socialization.

The researchers involved in this project are now inviting the public to a symposium marking the conclusion of four years of work. The event will feature presentations of the project’s findings and deliverables, as well as discussions on how to expand the research, focusing on the following themes:

  • Here, as elsewhere, liability and compensation, where we will discuss capitalization scales, quantitative analyses of case law, survey results, and comparisons with foreign systems.
  • The Meaning and Nonsense of Civil Liability, where some of the contributions to the book of the same name, published by the University of Savoie Mont Blanc Press, will be presented and discussed
  • Key considerations regarding risk communication, where academics will broaden the discussion to identify new avenues for research, and practitioners will share their perspectives.
