2018 International Karstology Symposium

June 27, 2018, 12:00 a.m. - July 1, 2018, 12:00 a.m.

The Environments, Dynamics, and Mountain Territories Laboratory (EDYTEM) is organizing an international karstology conference from June 27 to July 1, 2018, to mark the 40th anniversary of the French Karstology Association and in tribute to Richard Maire.

The conference will provide participants with an opportunity to discuss karst and caves.

On the agenda

The conference will begin with the kick-off workshop of the CNRS “Subsurface Environments and Karst” research network.

A field trip to the Bauges Karst will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018, with departure from Le Bourget-du-Lac in the late afternoon the day before and an overnight stay on site. A smaller-scale field trip (limited to 30 participants) to the Platé Karst is also planned and requires advance registration.

Friday afternoon will be dedicated to a special event: the presentation of the Savoie Mont Blanc University medal to Yves Quinif, a geochemist and karst geologist from the Polytechnic Faculty of Mons in Belgium.
