On Thursday, November 5, and Friday, November 6, 2020, the international and interdisciplinary conference “Celtic Myths and Folklore in the English-Speaking World” will take place on the Jacob-Bellcombette campus of the University of Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB).
This conference, organized by the USMB, in collaboration with its Laboratory of Languages, Literatures, Societies, and Transborder and International Studies (LLSETI), andthe University of Toulon, brings together a large number of researchers specializing in the Celts and the Celtic world. While the Celts are very much in vogue today, one might wonder what this term actually refers to: what is truly “Celtic”? To answer this question, the participating researchers will examine the relationship between modern so-called “Celtic” traditions (folklore, music, visual arts, tales, and legends…) and ancient Celtic myths, as found in the writings of medieval authors.
Half a day will be devoted to a presentation of the “An Domhan” project, developed by the Hypermedia Communication (Gaëtan Le Coarer, Ghislaine Chabert, and Marc Veyrat) and English (Noémie Beck) departments at USMB.
Space is limited. Thursday's session is fully booked.
Please email Noémie Beck (noemie.beck@univ-smb.fr) to make a reservation.
