Organized by Silvia D'Amico (lecturer and researcher at the LLSETI laboratory at the University of Savoie Mont Blanc), Franco Tomasi (University of Padua), and Paola Cifarelli (University of Turin), the international conference "Luigi Alamanni: Between Italy and France" will take place on October 21 and 22, 2021, at the USMB Presidency.
It will bring together more than twenty speakers to discuss the life and work of Luigi Alamanni, a leading figure of the Italian Renaissance from the 1520s to the 1550s.
He represents, through the complexity of his personal and intellectual biography as well as his prolific literary output (lyrical poetry, didactic poems, plays, short stories, and chivalric poetry), an exemplary case for understanding the forms of Italian Renaissance poetry.
Having spent a significant part of his life at the court of the Valois, his literary work intersected with the cultural policy of Francis I, while maintaining both poetic and political ties with the Italian world, particularly Florence.
This symposium is the first step in a project aimed at producing a new monograph on the author in a choral dimension, so to speak.
