Conference – Data science and predictive methods

January 29, 2019, 6:45 p.m. - January 29, 2019, 9:30 p.m.

The University of Savoie Mont Blanc is participating in the second edition of the Transfo Festival, offering a conference on the theme of "Data science and predictive methods" on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, from 6:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Mug coworking in Chambéry. The conference will be led by Laurent Vuillon, a researcher at the Mathematics Laboratory (LAMA) of the University of Savoie Mont Blanc and the CNRS.

About the conference

This is a general presentation on data science and new predictive methods that use artificial intelligence and statistical learning.

DATA science is proving to be at the heart of the digital transformation of our society. Data science relies on artificial intelligence and statistical learning methods. In fact, it consists of collecting raw data, cleaning it, storing it, analyzing it using data mining methods, or using predictive methods to extract value from it. In this presentation for the general public, we will explain the challenges, methods, and applications of this science through visual examples that are accessible to all. Perhaps it will give you ideas for how to make the most of your own data?

About the Transfo Festival

The festival, promoted by the French Tech in the Alps collective and La Casemate, runs from Thursday, January 24 to Thursday, January 31, 2019. It brings together all kinds of events organized by digital players in Grenoble, Valence, Annecy, and Chambéry. The events are aimed at a very wide audience and seek to explain how and why digital technology is transforming our daily lives and disrupting our habits. They explore what we should fear and hope for, and above all how we can make the most of it to move towards a more civic-minded and responsible digital world.
