About the conference

"How can we account for social inequalities today?" Bernard Lahire and his team tackled this question in a large-scale field study, the content and results of which are presented in the book Enfances de classe (Class Childhoods). Because "children live at the same time in the same society, but not in the same world," and we can no longer "say we didn't know," Bernard Lahire will respond to questions from the audience on the rationale and sociological foundations of the study presented in Enfances de classe, and on what everyone—sociologists, students, (future) teachers, parents, and citizens—can learn from it.

This meeting will also be an opportunity to engage in an in-depth discussion with this leading figure in sociology about his vision of sociology, his approach, and his contribution to understanding life in society.
