The USMB Institute for Transitions, in collaboration with the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Métiers (ENSAM), is organizing a conference entitled "What is low tech?" as part of the Rendez-vous de la Transition event organized by the city of Annecy. The conference will take place in amphitheater O01 of the IUT, in Building H, on the Annecy university campus (9 rue de l'Arc-en-ciel), on November 15, 2025, starting at 6:15 p.m.
About the conference
Faced with the urgent need for socio-environmental transformation, thousands of people around the world are working to create lifestyles based on autonomy, simplicity, empowerment, and sharing. These initiatives are sources of inspiration for individuals, businesses, and communities, which can gradually integrate this approach into their daily lives and development.
Come and discover and understand low tech with local speakers and stakeholders who will share their experiences of the actions implemented in Annecy and the surrounding area. Conferences and round tables will focus on a general approach to low tech, then on agriculture, food, construction, and culture.
Caroline Mattelin, lecturer and researcher atthe Institute for Research in Management and Economics (IREGE), and Noémie Prime, lecturer and researcher at the Building Energy Processes Laboratory (LOCIE), will speak at this conference.
