about the conference

Culture has long been considered a uniquely human trait. In recent decades, however, it has become clear that other animal species also undergo cultural evolution, albeit to a limited extent. This is the case for great apes, cetaceans, and birds, for example. In recent years, research in this area has focused not on vertebrates, but on insects. Could certain behaviors in insects be cultural in origin? We are going to discover some surprising experiments on cockroaches, fruit flies, bumblebees, and more.
