Twenty-four students from the dual-degree program in Law and Applied Foreign Languages took part in a study trip to Brussels from April 8 to 11, 2019. Accompanied by Paul Constable and Damien Bouvier, two faculty members from the University of Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB), they had the opportunity to learn about the institutions and activities of the European Union. In addition to numerous meetings with key players in the sector (at the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Regional Delegation, and with representatives of interest groups), the students, divided into smaller groups, also secured interviews with experts on more specific topics. Upon their return, they designed six posters on the following topics:
- The adoption of a text by the European Union and the role of lobby groups;
- The environment;
- Migration;
- Development cooperation;
- Erasmus;
- Pay equity.
These posters are intended to form the core of an exhibition on the theme “The Impact of European Legislation on the Daily Lives of Europeans.” The exhibition, open to both the academic community and the general public, aims to raise visitors’ awareness of the European Union and the impact of European legislation on the daily lives of Europeans during this period of European elections.
