pint of science

The Pint of Science science outreach festival returns in 2025 for its 12th edition in France, from May 19 to 21, 2025! At USMB, it is the Interuniversity Laboratory of Motor Biology (LIBM) will on Tuesday , May 20 , 2025 , at the ArtMalté microbrewery , located at 1 Boulevard Bellevue (Annecy). On the program: three presentations that will decipher athletic performance through science.

About the interventions

  • "To infinity and beyond: Where will sports records end?": a lecture presented by Baptiste Morel-Prieur, lecturer and researcher at the LIBM laboratory

    • About the conference: At every Olympic Games or world championship of any kind, records continue to be broken. Is the human race getting better every day? Nothing could be less certain... The organizers of these competitions have their "tricks," and, like mushroom spots, they don't reveal them to just anyone.

  • "Medals: the intersection between biology and physics": a lecture presented by Pierre Samozino, lecturer and researcher at the LIBM laboratory

    • About the conference: To perform well, athletes must overcome the physical laws that apply on Earth by using their abilities, which are largely dictated by biological principles. What if improving athletic performance could be achieved by optimizing this point of convergence?
  • " Exercise, fatigue, and heat waves... how can you effectively manage this potentially dangerous trio? : a lecture presented by Hervé Di Domenico, professor and researcher at LIBM laboratory
    • About the conference: Heat waves are expected to become more frequent and intense in France. If you want to continue your favorite physical activity to stay in shape even during periods of high heat, know that it is possible with good preparation and a few precautions!

About the Pint of Science Festival

Organized internationally, the Pint of Science festival aims to demystify science by organizing themed meetings between researchers and the general public in bars. These events allow participants to discover a variety of scientific topics in a relaxed and accessible setting.
