The University of Savoie Mont Blanc is organizing a prevention day focusing on Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) on Thursday, October 20, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the Annecy campus (in the morning at Polytech and in the afternoon at the IUT).
This event, which is part of the university's prevention program, is open to all Annecy staff. The aim of the day is to provide information on what MSDs are, why office work can contribute to their development, and what techniques can be used to reduce their effects.
The prevention and occupational health services will assist staff with:
- identify the risks of MSDs associated with their workstation and help them find solutions to eliminate or reduce them;
- provide information on the measures taken by the university to set up your workstation ergonomically.
On the agenda
During this half-day session, various activities are offered:
- Conference (30 min): Introduces USMB Prevention Day by presenting the main principles of workplace ergonomics. This session will be led by the occupational health service, the prevention service, and MGEN. The 9 a.m. conference will be held remotely via Teams (link sent by email) and recorded.
- "MSD Prevention" workshop revisited by WHERGO (duration: 1 hour): Using a scientific, user-friendly, and fun approach, this workshop helps participants understand and visualize the tension and pain associated with certain work postures, using sensors, and provides tips and tricks for preventing or reducing them.
- Seated massage session (20 minutes): In a calm atmosphere, a professional offers you a relaxing seated massage to release tension caused by repeated poor posture, stress, or fatigue. (Please note: places are very limited)
- Self-massage workshop (45 minutes): In a calm atmosphere, a professional will lead you through a relaxation session combining self-massage techniques and breathing exercises, with the aim of helping you adopt better movements and postures at work and prevent or reduce the onset of tension and pain associated with MSDs.

A sign-in sheet will be used to formalize registrations with the training department.
- Department visits: The occupational health department and the prevention department, assisted by students studying for a master's degree in Ergonomics (IEAP), will conduct parallel visits to the departments at the sites concerned: lasting 20 to 30 minutes maximum, a typical ergonomic workstation setup will be demonstrated to the employees present. Department heads will be asked in advance to organize these visits.
- USMB stand: For all information concerning the loan of ergonomic equipment at USMB, testing workstations with ergonomic equipment, financing, and other procedures.
- MGEN stand: MGEN staff will be available for half a day each day. All staff members will be able to take advantage of the services offered by MGEN: social security registration, membership applications, change of circumstances declarations, and other MGEN services (provident insurance, home insurance, life insurance, retirement savings, etc.)
From 8:30 a.m. in the Polytech building and from 1:30 p.m. at the Annecy IUT (details to be announced shortly).
