European Day of Languages

September 26, 2024, 9:00 a.m. - September 26, 2024, 7:00 p.m.

European Day of Languages will take place on Thursday, September 26, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the Chambéry Savoie Stadium. It was established by the Council of Europe and is organized jointly with the European Union. The event is being organized in Chambéry by the Institut de la langue savoyarde.

It provides an opportunity to raise public awareness of the importance of language learning and to promote Europe’s linguistic heritage. The Languages, Literatures, Societies, Cross-Border and International Studies Laboratory (LLSETI) will be offering three workshops on French as a Foreign Language (FLE) and Intercomprehension:

  • 9:00–10:15 a.m.: “When we first got here, we knew we were in for a challenge.” Learning French in France when you’re from somewhere else: why and how?
  • 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.: Intercultural Understanding Workshop (registration required via the form available here)
  • 1:15–2:15 p.m.: Intercultural Understanding Workshop (registration required via the form available here)
